WHAT TO EXPECT

During your first visit I will focus on your health history, present concerns, and goals. When I see you,  I may use acupuncture, cupping, tui na, or herbal formulas.  I tailor each treatment to your individual needs.  When acupuncture is performed, needles are placed and generally left for 20-40 minutes.

Acupuncture makes use of very thin, sterile, needles that stimulate the body's inborn capacity to heal.  The most common response from patients receiving acupuncture for the first time is simply that it feels strange.  Some patients experience a sensation of pressure.  Some may experience a euphoric state.

Acupuncture has immediate effects, some of which increase after the treatment.  A general course of treatment for many conditions is 4-12 sessions with a frequency of one or two treatments per week. Some patients will see improvement sooner and some patients, especially with chronic conditions, may require more treatments.  If an individual's vitality has been worn down by a chronic illness,  it will take some time to adequately rebuild the immune system.

Classical Chinese Medicine can also be used to ease the side effects of Western medical interventions, such as chemotherapy.
